FocusHub is built on a simple principle: your productivity data is yours, not ours.
Unlike other productivity apps that store your tasks forever, analyze your behavior for advertising, or sell your data to third parties, we automatically delete your task text weekly and never share your information with anyone.
This isn't just marketing—it's how we've built the app.
What Data We Collect (And Why)
We only collect data necessary to make FocusHub work:
Task & Productivity Data
- What: Task descriptions, sprint counts, completion times, distraction logs, daily performance history
- Why: To track your productivity and sync across your devices
- Where: Stored securely in Supabase (our database provider) with encryption at rest
- How Long: Task text deleted automatically every Friday at 11:59 PM
- Aggregated stats (no task text) kept for 90 days for trend analysis
Account Information
- What: Email address, user ID, account creation date
- Why: To create your account and enable secure authentication
- How Long: Until you delete your account
Subscription & Membership Data
- What: Plan type (Free/Premium/Admin), subscription status, billing information (if applicable)
- Why: To provide premium features and manage your subscription
- How Long: Until you delete your account or cancel subscription
- Note: Payment details are handled by our payment processor (Stripe/Lemon Squeezy) - we never store credit card numbers
Analytics & Error Tracking
- What: Page views, feature usage events, error logs (with stack traces), session duration
- Why: To improve app performance, fix bugs, and understand how features are used
- What's Tracked: Sprint starts/completions, task actions, button clicks, page navigations, JavaScript errors
- How Long: 90 days for aggregate analytics, 30 days for error logs
- Privacy: Analytics contain NO task content or personally identifiable information beyond user ID
Dashboard & Performance History
- What: Daily history (sprints completed, grade received, task counts), task completion history, distraction patterns
- Why: To show trends in your Insight Center dashboard and track long-term progress
- How Long: 90 days of detailed history for trend visualization
- Privacy: After task text deletion, only aggregate counts remain (no sensitive content)
Preferences
- What: Theme choice (light/dark), intensity level (supportive/balanced/tough), energy settings, keyboard shortcuts preferences
- Why: To personalize your experience and maintain consistency across devices
- How Long: Until you change them or delete your account
What We DON'T Collect
- ✅ No advertising trackers
- ✅ No behavioral analytics for ads

- ✅ No device fingerprinting
- ✅ No third-party cookies
- ✅ No data brokers
- ✅ No AI training on your tasks or productivity data
- ✅ No selling or sharing data with third parties
Automatic Weekly Deletion
Every Friday at 11:59 PM, we automatically delete:
- All task text/descriptions
- Distraction log entries
- Any sensitive information you've entered
What we keep (anonymized):
- Total sprint counts
- Completion percentages
- General productivity trends
- NO task content, NO personal info
Why? Because tasks can contain sensitive information:
- Client names ("Call Sarah at Apple")
- Health data ("Doctor appointment")
- Financial info ("Review Q4 budget")
- Personal matters ("Therapy session")
We delete it weekly so you don't have to worry.

Children's Privacy
FocusHub is not intended for children under 13.
Student Mode:
- Requires age verification (16+)
- Users under 16 need parent/guardian permission
- Parents can request data deletion: privacy@focushub.app
Data Security
Hybrid Storage Architecture
- Your active session data is stored in your browser (localStorage) for instant performance
- Cloud sync to Supabase (optional but enabled by default) keeps data synchronized across devices
- You can export your data at any time from Settings → Export Data
Cloud Storage Security (Supabase)
- Provider: Supabase (SOC 2 Type II certified, ISO 27001 compliant)
- Encryption: TLS 1.3 in transit, AES-256 encryption at rest
- Access Control: Row-level security (RLS) ensures you can only access your own data
- Authentication: Industry-standard OAuth 2.0 with secure session management
- Location: Data stored in secure data centers with 99.9% uptime SLA
- Access Logs: All database access is logged and monitored
Backups & Data Retention
- Automatic 7-day rolling backups (encrypted)
- Backups deleted automatically after 7 days
- Used only for disaster recovery and account restoration
- Task text: Deleted every Friday at 11:59 PM (not included in backups after deletion)
- Aggregate stats: Retained for 90 days for dashboard trends
Admin & User Management
- Admin access strictly limited to authorized personnel (currently: John Waters watersjb@gmail.com)
- Admin actions are logged and auditable
- Admin panel only accessible to users with explicit admin privileges
- Premium membership upgrades/downgrades logged for transparency
Third-Party Services
We use minimal third-party services, all vetted for security and privacy:
- Supabase: Authentication, database hosting, and data sync (SOC 2 compliant)
- Cloudflare Pages: Secure app delivery and DDoS protection
- Payment Processor: Stripe or Lemon Squeezy (when using paid features - PCI DSS compliant, we never see credit card details)
We DO NOT use:
- Google Analytics (we built our own privacy-focused analytics)
- Facebook Pixel
- TikTok Pixel
- Advertising networks of any kind
- Data brokers or aggregators
- AI training services (your data is never used to train AI models)
- Behavioral tracking for ads
Data Sharing & Third Parties
We DO NOT sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. Ever.
Limited data sharing only occurs when:
- You request it: Data export, account deletion
- Required by law: Valid legal process (court orders, subpoenas)
- Service providers: Supabase (database), payment processor (billing only)
In these cases, we share the minimum data necessary and require contractual privacy protections.
